Welcome to Troop 170!

Our Troop Sponsor:

Fredericksburg United Methodist Church

Many thanks to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Men's Group for sponsoring our troop. Thanks for providing us with a wonderful facility to meet, storage space, and pretty much anything else we need. God bless you and thanks to you, we will be turning some very nice boys into moral, responsible, Godly young men who will make a contribution to their communities and their nation.

Winter Camp at Camp Brady Suanders

Posted by jkung on Nov 29 2020 - 8:08pm

Brady Saunders requires non-refundable payments for Winter Camp by the end of November and we need firm commitments and payments from scouts.   Camp Brady Saunders is west of Richmond near Goochland (an hour and 10 minutes away). The popular winter camp routinely sells out and offers the opportunity to earn a variety of merit badges.  Scouts will each sleep in their own tents.  The Troop has reserved 15 spots for scouts for the Feb 12-15 (Martin Luther King Day weekend) session.   The cost for scouts is $61 (includes all meals) and the Troop will pay the fees for the first three leaders/parents to commit.  The deadline for signing up and payment is 10 AM Nov 30.  See the attached link for more information on winter camp.

Scouting for Food

Posted by jkung on Nov 9 2020 - 8:04am
Scouting for Food - Nov 14 - Scouts from Troop 170 and Pack 802 will meet Saturday morning at 9 AM in the FUMC parking lot and split into groups to deliver door hanger notices to Fredericksburg neighborhoods.  We will canvas the same neighborhoods that we have canvased in the past.  Scouts should wear their Class A uniforms and a face mask.  In order to promote social distancing, we're looking for more parental involvement this year . . . ideally scouts will be driven in their own cars to the different neighborhoods, rather than several scouts sharing the same car.  If scouts do share rides, then open windows and face masks should be practiced.

Congratulations to Isaac M. our newest Eagle Scout!
